Learning Through Play

I am very passionate about developing a love of learning in children. It underpins everything children do at school. If a child loves learning and is excited about it, they will learn much more. Learning isn't all about memorising lots of facts and figures. Learning is about questioning, experimenting, investigating, creating and PLAYING.

I believe all children are different and should be treated as such. Responding to actual needs rather than needs perceived based on age or grade is an excellent place to start. Looking at what makes a child light up is also important. And building that relationship from which learning seems to flow is essential. Once needs, relationship and preferred learning methods are established, working within that range between currently-known and way-too-difficult is where a parent and teacher needs to stay, moving with a rate of progress comfortable for the child.

I currently work as a prep teacher two days per week. I love my job!

I look forward to continuing to share my ideas and experiences that can help others to encourage learning at home too.
