Attending a minimalist party. Chickens, purple icing, and garden hose tug-o-war.

My lovely niece Charlotte turned seven years old this week. Yesterday was her family birthday party. Naturally we attended. We were minus my wonderful husband as he was at work. To be honest it was a great distraction for the kids because the end of an afternoon shift fortnight is rarely a happy time for the school aged kids, especially when Craig works a double Saturday shift. This is because he has spent probably less than a couple of hours with them for the whole week. It doesn't affect the littlies as much because they can see daddy during the day, it's just strange that he isn't there to eat dinner.

So a diversion of a busy Sunday was awesome: church, grocery shopping and then off to a party!

Henry insisted on wrapping the present while Izzy and Lu wrote on the card together. Jack rode his bike to my sister's house as they do not live very far away.

The kids all had a ball! Wherever we go, we can certainly provide entertainment. The kids didn't disappoint.

There was trampolining.

There was bunny watching. And attempted feeding.

Hole digging. Who doesn't love a good old fashioned hole digging?

Mower starting.

Swings and climbing.

Flower picking. And photographing (so beautiful!)

Running. And more running.

Ball un-sharing.

Happy birthday singing and cake eating.

For dairy-free Daisy, biscuits with the most purple icing (minus the dress for this!)

Chicken following, NOT chasing. Maybe a little bit of chasing.

Garden hose jumping. Garden hose snake game.

Car driving.

Garden hose tug-o-war.

Fun for all! And tired kids in bed without complaint.

Simple. Beautiful. Fun.
